Message from the Director of Tennis, Village Glen Tennis Club

John Brunner
All of us here at Village Glen extend a HUGE THANK YOU to each of you for an incredible summer season! Mother Nature sure tried to throw a wrench in our plans on a few occasions! Thanks to your understanding and flexibility, we all persevered and were able to play some tennis!

The summer tournament series this season had more participants and more matches than in many past years’ series! We had a few nice get-togethers during the tournaments, with an incredible spreads (food), refreshments, fun décor and even live music! Not to mention the fierce competition at all levels! Thank you to all over our sponsors, participants and, of course, our tournament facilitators! Maybe next summer we will get Tom LaPenna in the dunk tank!

The Memorial Day and July 4th Tennis Socials were successful, too! We had fun, yet competitive matches with our own cookouts and holiday picnic cheer!

Our Junior Summer Tennis Camp has been as busy as ever with the conditioning program starting off the morning, 2 hours of drills at 10am and Pro-supervised match play in the afternoons! Our junior players have shown great improvements in their tennis games and have proven themselves with excellent results in the area tournaments this summer! Nice job juniors (and VG Pros)!!

We have added new VG adults to our player list this summer! The EZ Tennis In A Snap Adult Beginner Lessons are going strong molding our newbies into well-oiled tennis machines who will be ready to enter the Match Play/Drill Clinic realm very soon! We love adding new faces to our tennis world! USTA here they come!

The Labor Day Tennis Social (Monday, September 2 from 11am-2pm) will close out the summer festivities and lead us to a Fall season filled with more players, more tournaments, more tennis and more fun!
