Last season, we had more tournaments and competitive round-robin nights than ever before! We’re going to keep
the momentum and make sure that there is something for everyone. Our most popular events last year, by far, were the
mixed doubles tournaments. Look for a mixed tournament around the end of each month, beginning in September
through January, when the USTA mixed season begins. It will be a great primer for the USTA season, and it’s always
fantastic to see new faces.
In addition to mixed doubles, we will hold four local junior tournaments (around the end of each nine week
session), so that our JD students can learn how to compete in a relaxed tournament setting. One of the highlights of last
year was helping two seven year old girls play their first tournament match.
Look for great tennis socials this year. We are very excited that
Mike Manzella is returning to STTC; he will be hosting
monthly socials and mixers that are guaranteed to be a blast!
This fall, STTC will feature new clinics, classes, and other popular, award-winning programs, including:
Adult Development Lesson Program (Levels 1-3)
"From beginner to player in no time." This program has been the starting point for many weekly tennis groups.
High Performance Classes and High Performance Advanced Match Play
These programs have a proven track record of producing some of WNY’s best high school tennis players. All five of this
year’s seniors in our Friday match play have been accepted to play collegiate tennis next year.
Cardio Tennis and Quick Drill Classes
Participants in our nationally recognized Cardio Tennis Classes and our slightly less intense Quick Drill Classes typically
burn 600-1200 calories in an hour long class. It’s more fun than a treadmill, and has the benefit of being able to hit tennis
balls and work out with friends.
Junior Team Tennis Program
JTT is the best program for getting kids PLAYING tennis. Children will be part of a team and learn to compete in a social
environment. JTT is held every Sunday afternoon and is for children of all ages and ability levels. Tennis pros will be on
court and supervise weekly singles, doubles, and mixed doubles mini matches.
Find a Match
This program is easy to get involved with. Simply email Mike Manzella at
Mmanzella7@gmail.com and let him know your playing level, availability, and preference for singles or doubles. Mike
will email you your match appointment.
Club Challenge Ladder
For all levels of players that want to put their game to the test, sign up at the front desk.
I am looking forward to seeing all of you at the club for a great indoor season. If there is anything I can do for you, it
would be my pleasure to serve you. Welcome back, and see you on the court!
Sincerely,
Stephen Sayoc
Director of Tennis
South Towns Tennis Club.

The entire VG Team would like to thank you for a great summer season! As summer winds down, we are busy
preparing for another exciting indoor season!
We have some awesome news for you – we spent a great deal of time researching new lights for the bubble – at
the end of this past indoor season, we purchased and implemented the new lighting! I think you will notice a
much brighter bubble this Fall! No more “mood-lighting” out there!
We have an exciting program for kids this season! It’s called
Junior Play Days! We did a trial run at the end of
last season and it went very well! Play Days are Pro-Supervised match play events for juniors that are organized
by skill level on specific dates and times. The Tennis Pro will set up the matches and offer tips while the juniors
are playing! This is a great learning tool to go along side the Junior Development Program!

Continuing this year will be Jamie’s Mixed Madness Tournament Socials! These events were in high demand last
season! What a great time – competitive tennis, good food and great company! Be sure to check with us for the
Mixed Madness schedule!
Have you had a turn with the ball machine yet? Our state-of-the-art Playmate ball machine is an integral part of
any tennis player’s practice regimen! This feeding machine will deliver ball after ball allowing you to work on
any stroke necessary! Bring a friend or two and implement your own drill session! Set it up to send the ball to the
same spot for grooving of tennis strokes or send the ball side to side to practice hitting on the run! You will get
plenty of hitting and a great workout at the same time! The cost is just the court fee plus $5 for the ball machine.
Remember – if you want to learn some new skills and techniques, please check out the
VG Drill Clinics! If your goal is to hit a ton of tennis balls and get some great
instruction all while meeting new players to hit with – Drill Clinics are for you! Along
the same line are the Match Plays! Great tennis with some new faces!
Do you know someone who wants to learn tennis for the first time? Check out our EZ
Tennis In A Snap Program! These are crash courses in tennis fundamentals that adult
beginners can use as a springboard to learning tennis fast! We will get them out there
playing in no time!
For those of you who no longer need any instruction and simply want to play some
competitive tennis, Russ runs tournaments for juniors and adults all season long!
There are lots of divisions, good food and friendly competitors! Russ will have his
Tournament Line –up for the upcoming season posted on our website ASAP!
Not sure what level you are? Call me for a 10-15 minute hit/evaluation at no charge!
After we assess your level I will be happy to tell you about all the different programs
we have for you to jump into!
Occasionally, it can be a bit tricky to get courts during the indoor season on certain
days/evenings. However, there is a way to guarantee a court each and every week!
Talk to Tracy about booking a Contract Court for the season!
No matter what your skill level is, no matter how fierce the competition you desire, we
have something for you! Please call us 633-1635 or stop in for information! There is so much
tennis happening here – come be a part of the action!
Sincerely,
